Community Tree Planting and Care & Adopt-a-Green Space
Provided on-going care to street trees in cooperation with the Burlington Dept. of Parks and Recreation

Maintained Perkins Pier Greenspace
Organized volunteers for weeding, pruning, flower planting, litter removal, and spring cleanup in pocket park.

Community Education and Outreach
Maintained and expanded official Branch Out Burlington! website (www.BranchOutBurlington.org)
Updated site regularly to announce BOB! events and provide other tree related information for the
public.
Organized the 10th annual tree walk: Tree Health and Identification on the UVM Green led by Matt Latiolais
Over 20 people attended.
Prepared and printed BOB! brochure for the 10th annual Tree Walk
Brochure was handed out at the walk and other BOB! events.
Organized the annual Winter Arbor Lecture: 'Wise on Weeds' by Rose Paul,
invited speaker from the Vermont Chapter of the Nature Conservancy.
Over 20 people attended.
Represented BOB! at several local environmental and tree-related events (e.g., Arbor Day, etc.)
Hosted talk by Mike Snyder, Chittenden County Forester, "How to Create a Natural Habitat in your Own Backyard". Over 40 people attended.
Burlington Community Tree Nursery (BCTN)
Planted 80 trees in the BCTN for future planting on the street and continued managing current plantings, including weed control, fertilization and pest management.
Supplied 92 trees from the BCTN for planting on the street, lifting them prior to transplanting
Produced tote bags andmagnets with the BOB! logo for all tree planting team leaders and Tree Keepers.
Burlington Tree Keeper Program (BTKP)
Continued program for interested citizens to provide ongoing care of trees planted along the street and recruited over 25 participants.
Organized and held Tree Keeper training program with lecture by Bill Baron. Attended by
27 adults and children.
Coordinated Tree Keeper email listserver to facilitate communication about critical tree issues among Tree Keepers, the city arborist, state urban forestry personnel and BOB! members.
Branch Out Burlington! Annual Tree Sale
Coordinated the first BOB! Tree Sale to provide bare-root trees at low cost to the public, and generate funds to sustain BOB! on-going educational programs.
